Ruthin 26 Whitchurch 12
Ruthin completed their preseason preparations with a 3rd win from 3 games. On a dry afternoon Whitchurch put Ruthin under a period of sustained pressure during the opening 20 mins and scored a deserved converted try to lead 7-0. This stirred Ruthin into life and they hit back through winger Huw Parry which Deian Williams converted. As the first half wore on Ruthin were coming in to the game more and more.
The second half started much the same as the first with Whitchurch breaking through at will in the backs. They scored again after 50 mins but the conversion was missed leaving the score at 12-7. As in the first half the score woke Ruthin up and led by the outstanding Ben Taylor they took complete control of the game for the final 30 minutes. Substitute scrum half Wil Mitchelmore got two quick scores which were converted by Daf Lloyd meaning that Ruthin were leading by 21-12 coming into the last 10. The scoring was complete when Ben Taylor scored a pushover try following strong work by the front row. The final score of Ruthin 26 Whitchurch 12 sets ruthin up nicely for next weeks opening league game at home to Caernarfon.
